Dennerle Plants Taxiphyllum barbieri

Taxiphyllum barbieri, also know as Java moss, is a classic among aquarium mosses and is much appreciated by aquascapers - not least because of its enormous adaptability. It is also practical for underwater dwellers: they like to retreat and rest among the fine thread-like leaves while herbivores do not find the foliage palatable. It can be planted in the substrate or attached to stones, wood or coconut - it grows by branching vertically and horizontally and forms dense carpets on the substrate. An extra plus: although this moss likes warmer temperatures, it has few demands and thrives even without special attention. Plenty of light and nutrients will ensure that it reaches its best form.

• Optimal temperature: between 20 and 28 °C
• Water values: very adaptable
• Nutrient supply: not necessary, but will be amply rewarded
• Reproduction: division of the moss cushions

Tip: This moss will reveal its full splendour after an acclimatisation period of several weeks. Until then, leave it alone. Place it in a location where it can remain and grow undisturbed.
