Description
Marsilea hirsuta forms a dense ground cover in aquariums thanks to its clover-like leaves. After an initial acclimatisation period, this interesting fern develops different leaf shapes depending on the conditions. It can develop a low shape with simple leaves, or it forms two-, three- or four-lobed leaves of different heights. Its growth height varies between 2 and 10 cm. Whichever form it grows into, it spreads slowly but steadily through runners and forms an attractive carpet. It is not very demanding but requires good light and clean water.
- Light requirement: medium to high
- Optimal temperature: 20 to 26 °C
- Water values: soft to hard, regular water changes
- pH value: 5 to 8
- CO2 and nutrient addition: recommended
- Propagation: runners, division
Note: The plants are grown in-vitro in sterile conditions in a laboratory. They are therefore also suitable for sensitive animals such as dwarf shrimps and can be used immediately. In-vitro plants do not harbour pests such as snails or parasites. No pesticides are used.
