Description
Limnobium laevigatum is an attractive floating plant that is also functional: it draws excess nutrients out of the water and thus supports a healthy aquarium biology. It is ideal for open tanks with up to 30 cm long roots that are attractive and serve as a great resting place for young fish as well as a spawning ground for some ornamental fish. Like all floating plants, it likes very bright light. It has few other requirements and grows quickly without overgrowing. If the dense leaf cover steals light from other plants, simply remove a few leaves.
- Light requirement: high to medium
- Optimal temperature: 18 to 28 °C
- Water values: soft to hard
- pH value: 5 to 8
- CO2 and nutrient addition: not required
- Propagation: runners
Note: The plants are grown in-vitro in sterile conditions in a laboratory. They are therefore also suitable for sensitive animals such as dwarf shrimps and can be used immediately. In-vitro plants do not harbour pests such as snails or parasites. No pesticides are used.
