Description
Glossostigma elatinoides gets an Oscar! The small leaf plant is one of the most popular ground covers, not least because of its rapid growth habit. It is particularly widely used in Japanese-style layouts. This relatively inconspicuous plant came to the notice of Takashi Amano in 1980 who successfully cultivated it for his aquascaping projects. Since then he has been a devoted fan. It is ideal for the foreground both as a ground cover and in group plantings. It's not an easy plant though: it needs a supply of CO₂, soft water and good light. Do not place it in the shade of large plants!
- Light requirements: high to medium
- Temperature: 20 to 26°C
- Water values: very soft to medium
- pH value: 5 to 7.5 - very tolerant
- CO2 and nutrient addition: necessary
- Propagation: by division
Note: The plants are grown in-vitro in sterile conditions in a laboratory. They are therefore also suitable for sensitive animals such as dwarf shrimps and can be used immediately. In-vitro plants do not harbour pests such as snails or parasites. No pesticides are used.
