Description
pH Test for Saltwater by Tropic Marin is a test for checking the pH values in salwater aquariums. All the necessary equipment including test cuvettes, reagents, dosing syringes and colour charts are included in the pack. The reagents can be bought as refill packs after they have been used up.
The pH value of Saltwater
The pH value is one of the most important measurements in an aquarium. It shows how acidic or basic the water is. Pure water is neutral and has a pH of 7. If the pH is below 7, the aquarium water is acidic. If the pH values are above 7, the water is alkaline.
In seawater, especially in aquariums, the pH value can fluctuate often. The pH values should therefore be checked regularly! If the optimal pH value is in the range of 8.0-8.5, the saltwater has a slightly alkaline character.
Instructions for use:
- Shake the bottle vigorously before use.
- First, rinse the glass cuvette with tap water. Then rinse the glass cuvette several times with aquarium water.
- Fill the glass cuvette with 5 ml of aquarium water using the dosing syringe.
- Add a drop of pH test reagent, close the glass cuvette with the stopper and shake.
- Place the glass cuvette on the white inner circles on the colour chart. Compare the colour of the contents of the glass cuvette with the colours on the colour chart by looking into the open cuvette from above.
- Read the measured pH value using the corresponding colour field.
- After measuring, rinse the cuvette and syringe thoroughly with tap water.
Included in the pack:
- 1 x pH Reagent 10ml
- 1 x glass cuvette 10 ml
- 1 x dosing syringe 5 ml
- 1 x colour chart
- 1 x instruction manual
Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
If the pH level is too high or too low, you can use Tropic Marin Triple Buffer or Tropic Marin Liquid Buffer. It is also important to change the water regularly.
