Description
Holey rock is light beige to off white, and a true classic aquarium decoration. These rocks are
cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner and have an almost smooth surface, which is riddled with smaller and bigger holes and craters. In these natural rocks, fish, crayfish, crabs and shrimp will find perfect hiding-places on many different levels.
Holey rocks are great for planting - often it is sufficient to just stick an aquatic fern or another
epiphytic plant into one of the holes. This saves you the hassle of attaching the plants with a piece of string. Holey rock is frequently used in aquariums with hard water - it's perfect for cichlids from Lake Malawi or Tanganyika. Since it contains lime it may harden soft water.
These spectacularly structured natural stones are perfect for freshwater aquariums and terrariums, and they can be planted with epiphytes and mosses in addition. These stones contain a little lime and therefore may increase the water hardness slightly.
