Description
Cryptocoryne x purpurea is native to the island of Borneo. This is a natural hybrid, a result of natural crossings between Cryptocoryne griffithii and Cryptocoryne cordata.
This aquatic plant has a slow growth habit and reaches an average height of around 10 cm. Due to its compact size, the plant takes up little space and is ideal for the aquarium foreground where its splendid colours are displayed to the best effect. It prefers a nutrient-rich substrate as it mainly absorbs nutrients through its roots. It thrives best in bright lighting conditions.
- Light requirements: medium to high
- Optimal temperature: 22 to 28°C
- Water hardness: soft to neutral
- pH value: 5 to 7
- CO2 and nutrient addition: highly recommended
- Propagation: runners
Note: The plants are grown in-vitro in sterile conditions in a laboratory. They are therefore also suitable for sensitive animals such as dwarf shrimps and can be used immediately. In-vitro plants do not harbour pests such as snails or parasites. No pesticides are used.
