Description
Taxiphyllum alternans 'Taiwan' is visually similar to Java moss but is significantly denser and more branched. In the wild, it is found in the splash and edge zone of waterfalls. It is easy to care for and grows well, provided it is left undisturbed. Given plenty of light and CO2, it will thrive and transform your aquascape into a natural-looking underwater world. Suitable for aquascaping layouts in nano tanks as well as detail-rich layouts in larger aquariums. Moss provides a great place for little animals such as shrimps to rest and take shelter. Herbivores will not munch on moss.
- Light requirements: from sunny to shady, adaptable
- Optimal temperature: between 20 and 30 °C
- Water values: very adaptable
- Addition of nutrients and CO2: not necessary, but will be amply rewarded
- Reproduction: division of the moss cushions
- Emersed growth: floor area of wet terrariums
Tip: Moss develops and thrives after a period of acclimatisation that can last several weeks. Until then, leave it alone. Place it in a location where it can remain undisturbed.
