Aquael BioCeraMax 1600 Filter Medium

BioCeraMAX 1600 is a unique contribution that was developed for biological water filtration in freshwater and saltwater aquariums, paludariums, aquaterrariums and terrarium tanks. It has the shape of spheres made of fine-grain sintered glass, which offer an exceptionally large filter surface - 1600 m2.

How does BioCeraMAX 1600 work?
The useful nitrifying bacteria of the genera Nitrosomonas and Nitrospira settle on the inside of the pores of the BioCeraMAX 1600 balls in the aquarium filter. These microorganisms use metabolic products: ammonia (Nitrosomonas) and nitrites (Nitrospira), which are toxic to fish during their life cycle. Nitrifying bacteria oxidise ammonia and nitrite to nitrates, which are much safer for the inhabitants of the aquarium.

Where and when does the BioCeraMAX 1600 work?
BioCeraMAX 1600 is ideally suited as a filter bed in canister filters, overflow filters, internal filters with chambers for loose media (e.g. TURBOFILTER), sump basins, filter chimneys. It can be used successfully in freshwater and saltwater aquariums. It is particularly recommended for aquariums with large and many fish.

How is BioCeraMAX 1600 used?
The BioCeraMAX 1600 is ready for immediate use and does not require rinsing. The contents of the packaging are poured into the filter basket or the filtration chamber. For best results, it is recommended that the BioCeraMAX 1600 cartridge be placed behind the mechanical filter cartridges and in front of the chemical filter cartridges.

The BioCeraMAX 1600 can be used for a very long time without replacing. However, it is subject to slow, gradual wear from crushing, which reduces the effectiveness of its operation. To ensure the best possible effect, it is recommended to replace about a third of the medium with new ones every 6-12 months.

When cleaning the filter, the cartridge should be rinsed with water from the aquarium and not in tap water to prevent its sterilization.
