Description
Hydrocotyle verticillata is a great option to break up a monotonous backdrop with its round, slightly notched, mushroom-shaped leaves and rather twining growth. The low-stemmed plant has a compact growth in intense to good light. Adding nutrients, especially iron, and CO2, makes it a starring underwater element that transforms plain and boring into a beautiful, dense jungle - ornamental fish and microorganisms love such hiding places! It looks particularly attractive in groups as a ground cover in the foreground and midground as well as on slopes or elevated areas.
- Light requirements: medium to intense
- Optimal temperature: 4 to 27 °C, very tolerant
- Water values: 0 - 15°dKH (carbonate hardness) / 0 - 30°dGH (total hardness), tolerant
- pH value: 5 to 7- tolerant
- CO2 and nutrient addition: highly recommended, especially iron
- Propagation: runners, cuttings, division, daughter plants
- Emersed growth: yes
Note: The plants are grown in-vitro in sterile conditions in a laboratory. They are therefore also suitable for use with sensitive animals such as dwarf shrimps and can be used immediately. In-vitro plants do not harbour pests such as snails or parasites. No pesticides are used.
Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
Thanks to its attractive and unusual appearance, the Hydrocotyle verticillata ensures interesting variety and offers great design options. Other advantages include the fact that it does well and grows vigorously after pruning. A good combination with larger decorative elements.
