Description
Gratiola viscidula is still considered a newcomer or rarity in aquaristics. However, this idiosyncratic stem plant impresses with its unmistakable "thorny look": if you plant it in rows, you get spiky-looking, very compact hedges - an extraordinary element in any underwater kingdom! A bright location and quiet are ideal, the plant grows rather slowly but can reach over 20 cm - pruning is good for it, it then branches out even more. Initial experience suggests that it is highly adaptable - regardless of temperature, hardness or pH value.
- Light requirements: Medium to intense
- Optimum temperature: Very robust
- Water values: Very soft to very hard - very tolerant
- pH value: 5 to 7 - tolerant
- CO2 and nutrient addition: Recommended
- Propagation: Cuttings, division
- Emersed growth: Yes
Note: Cups are grown in the laboratory. Aquatic plants from the so-called in vitro culture are grown sterilely. They are therefore also suitable for sensitive animals such as dwarf shrimps and can be used immediately. With in vitro plants, there are no stowaways such as snails or parasites, and pesticides are also completely avoided.
