The Tetra Malawi Granules are particularly suitable as a staple food for all herbivorous cichlids such as the algae eaters from the Mbuna group. The high-quality mixture of the three algae species Spirulina, Nori and Chlorella is specially tailored to the needs of these fish.

There are several reasons for this: the Mbuna cichlids continuously graze on algae-covered stones and rocks in the wild. It is vital for this species of fish to eat incessantly in order to cover its daily energy needs with the relatively nutrient-poor algae. The feeding behaviour does not change in an aquarium. That means: The fish greedily eat everything that is offered to them. In the case of very high-energy feed, this behaviour quickly leads to fat. It is all the more important that food for Mbuna cichlids is rich in all important nutrients and vitamins but still does not lead to excess fat.
