Description
Flourite® is a gravel for planted aquariums made of crushed porous clay. This natural product is best used as the sole substrate but can also be used in combination with other substrates. It does not alter the pH value of the water as it is not chemically treated or coated. Plus, once placed in an aquarium, it never needs to be replaced.
Tip: Gravel modifiers such as laterite are not needed when using Flourite®.
Application recommendations:
Although Flourite® is pre-washed, it should be washed again before use to remove any dust caused by abrasion during transportation.
After the substrate is placed in the aquarium, take care to introduce water slowly to the tank so as not to stir it up. Seachem recommends introducing water to your aquarium by adding water to a bowl placed on the sand and letting it gently overflow. Slight cloudiness initially is not a cause for concern. This can be easily fixed by means of mechanical filtering such as filter floss. Use Seachem Clarity™ to accelerate the clarification process.
Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
Use Seachem's Project Calculator to calculate exactly how much Flourite® substrate you need for your aquarium.
