Carbon: the basis of plant life
Plants are made up mostly of carbon. CO₂ is an essential nutrient and the building block for photosynthesis by which they produce sugar from CO₂, water and light and release oxygen.

The natural CO₂ content in aquariums is often too low, thus causing slow plant growth and algae problems. Regular addition of CO₂ creates the right conditions for healthy plant growth, more oxygen and better water quality.

CO₂ production
Carbon is produced in a natural biochemical reaction. Specially selected microorganisms in combination with Dennerle's CO2 Constant Gel ensure a constant amount of CO2 per filling for at least 40 days. Conventional organic CO₂ systems which use household sugar produce CO₂ irregularly and are less suitable for aquariums.
