Description
Great performance - Ultramax filters are characterised by very fast water flow (max. From 1000 to 2000 L / h). This enables them to work efficiently even in very large tanks (up to 700 L). They are also spacious and contain a large number of filter cartridges housed in comfortable ergonomic baskets with a capacity of 1.9 L each (the number of baskets is between 3 and 5 depending on the model). This guarantees effective mechanical and biological filtration. They have carefully selected fillings for the needs of a typical aquarium.
The cover of every Ultramax filter has a built-in large foam pre-filter (capacity approx. 0.6 L). Its job is to trap thicker mechanical impurities before they get into the filter so that the device is protected from clogging. Frequent cleaning of the device is therefore not necessary. It is sufficient to regularly rinse the sponge of the pre-filter in tap water. This treatment only takes a few minutes. It is not necessary to disconnect the filter from the mains or remove it from the aquarium cabinet.
Noiseless operation
The carefully designed construction of the filter pump rotor and its chamber is based on more than 30 years of experience and features a ceramic rotor axis, ensuring noiseless operation. Thanks to this, the filter does not disturb and can be operated in any room (even in the bedroom).
Extremely low power consumption
AQUAEL cares about the natural environment and its clients' portfolios. This is why innovative ULTRAMAX filters have very low energy consumption. The ULTRAMAX 2000 consumes only 17 W!
Safety
The water inlets and water outlets in ULTRAMAX filters are equipped with robust double ball valves. This allows the hoses to be separated quickly and easily from the filter before cleaning and even small water leaks are prevented!
The ULTRAMAX line comprises three filter models (ULTRAMAX 1000, 1500, 2000) with a capacity of 1000 to 2000 L / h.
- Very large capacity filter media - ideal conditions for the development of nitrifying bacteria
- Built-in pre-filter - frequent cleaning of the device is not necessary
- Enables any configuration of filtration media
- Smoothly adjusted efficiency, and easily adjustable filter speed to suit the needs of the user
- Automatic priming of the filter before setting into operation
- Extremely quiet operation thanks to the ceramic rotor axis
- Integrated shut-off valves

Good filter but...
Rated with 3 out of 5 stars.
Filter itself is good (ultramax 2000), size and capacity wonderful BUT the pipes which are coming with are very terrible toys :/ that's why only 3 star. Needed to get new inlet and outlet from JBL for this as original ones kept falling off. Also there was very little useful filter material but it leaves you option use what ever you want in it :) Got this for my 700l goldfish tank as second filter.

Aquael Ultramax 2000
Rated with 5 out of 5 stars.
Advantages:
First of all, the filter is built with high-quality plastics, which ensures water sealability. Additionally, it is produced in Europe, which is quite rare nowadays, unfortunately. It has a total of 8 clamps on the head part, with 4 of them being very solid, yet very easy to open without any fear of breaking. I think this is one of the most important factors, as there is nothing more crucial than being sure that your external filter is sealed.
The pump head in this filter is suspended and insulated by rubber holders, making the filter almost silent—the most silent filter I have ever had. The power consumption vs. performance is great, which is important given the current and future electricity prices.
I really like the pre-filter setup, as the water enters from the bottom into the prefilter box and overflows through the media. This is the best system to ensure impurities are held in the media. I prefer this setup over Oase's, as it does not require removing the filter from the cabinet to clean the prefilter (as long as you have an extra 5 cm on each side to open the clamps).
Disadvantages
Some people have pointed out that the media are suboptimal. However, I have not encountered a filter that comes with the perfect media setup - I have one Oase Thermo 600 and it comes with sponges only and bio media made out of plastic - questionable surface area by comparing to the classic ceramic. The filter has a huge capacity, and thanks to the prefilter, it can be entirely filled with bio-media. The sponges are of good quality and grades, especially the fine one, which helps clarify small particles in the water.
However, I filled the filter completely with included ceramic, extra Siporax, and Neo media from the Korean brand Aquario. I utilize included wool instead of the sponge in the prefilter.
Another issue is the larger hose diameter and huge accessories inlet. The 19/25mm hoses help achieve higher flow rates and performance while reducing power intake. It might be difficult to find nice glass or steel inlets and outlets, but there are more options coming to the market. For example, CO2 diffusers from JBL or inline heaters are available in this size. The semi-transparent pipes are actually nice and aesthetic, though the black-colored connections aren't the prettiest. The inlet basket is large and can be difficult to hide in medium-sized aquariums. I solved this by putting a fine sponge instead of the basket, which also lowers the risk of shrimp or fish being sucked into the filter.
I know that the company is soon going to release an upgraded new version with completely new inlets and outlets! Looking forward to that.
Overall
I can honestly recommend this filter. You will feel safe with it, it won't ruin your pocket, and it will keep your aquarium clean and tidy!
