Description

The Small Deep Red Ludwigia scores with a special feature: even at medium light intensity, its graceful leaves and stems turn an intense red. This fast-growing and low-maintenance plant is ideal for placing attractive colour accents between lush green arrangements or in shady corners. Its origin is not clear, but Southeast Asia is suspected. This Ludwigia has more delicate stems and smaller leaves than its known relatives but grows quickly into state bushes, so the middle and background are best suited for it. A plant that adds colourful variety and does an excellent job of concealing anything that needs to be invisible!

Since Ludwigia sp. 'Super Mini Red' has a lot of vigour and can grow well over 20 cm high, it can also tolerate vigorous pruning and reacts to this with stronger branching. It can therefore be used to quickly redesign underwater worlds without having to relocate. This Ludwigia works best in groups; as it can be propagated by head and side shoot cuttings, dense plant sceneries for the background can be created easily. Medium to strong light conditions and regular macro and micronutrient fertilisation promote its natural growth. It needs warmth: temperatures between 18 and 28°C are the order of the day! For perfect wellness, it also needs a stable pH value between 5 and 7 and soft to medium-hard water. It is an emersed plant: on wet, nutrient-rich soil it develops a creeping growth, but leaves and stems then often remain green.

Note: Cups are cultivated in the laboratory. Aquatic plants from the so-called in vitro culture are grown sterilely. They are therefore also suitable for sensitive animals such as dwarf shrimps and can be used immediately. In vitro plants have no stowaways such as snails or parasites, and pesticides are not used at all.
