Description
Bacopa myriophylloidesa is often confused with fine-leaved Rotala species due to its similarly attractive appearance. In fact, its delicate, whorled leaves are atypical for its species. In the wild, it prefers swampy and sunny conditions, which is why it also likes soft, rather acidic water and very bright light conditions in aquariums including nutrient-rich substrate. It also thrives in well-lit paludariums where experience has shown it to be less demanding. A distinctive plant for the midground, ideal in larger tanks and in the hands of experienced underwater gardeners.
- Light requirement: high to intense, never shade
- Optimal temperature: 22 - 26° C
- Water values: soft
- pH value: rather acidic
- CO2 and nutrient addition: a must
- Propagation: head cuttings
- Emersed growth: yes
Note: The plants are grown in-vitro in sterile conditions in a laboratory. They are therefore also suitable for use with sensitive animals such as dwarf shrimps and can be used immediately. In-vitro plants do not harbour pests such as snails or parasites. No pesticides are used.
Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
Bacopa myriophylloides is an extremely attractive stem plant for larger aquariums and paludariums. It is demanding when kept submerged and is best left to experienced aquascapers who will recognise its needs promptly.
