Description
Dennerle Watertest 6in1 is a strip test for quickly determining the 6 most important water values in a freshwater aquarium.
With the Watertest 6in1 you measure the six most important water parameters in your aquarium in no time at all and can intervene quickly enough to correct them if necessary:
PH value
In order for your pH to remain stable, the carbonate hardness should always be at least 5 ° dKH, otherwise, there is a risk of an acid drop. Therefore, you should always measure the carbonate hardness and, if necessary, increase it before you adjust the pH.
Carbonate hardness (KH)
As mentioned, the carbonate hardness stabilises the pH value and buffers fluctuations that arise, for example, from biological degradation processes in the aquarium. If the KH is too low, you also risk pH fluctuations. Therefore, you should pay attention to the carbonate hardness. It stabilizes the pH between 5 ° and 10 ° dKH.
Total hardness (GH)
The water in the habitats from which our fish come is usually soft and low in minerals. Water is only re-mineralised by dissolved calcium and magnesium. This happens when rainwater dissolves the minerals in the earth.
Nitrate test (NO3)
With the nitrate test, you can quickly discover the cause of many problems; If your fish and plants behave strangely or if the algae growth takes over, it is possible that the nitrate value is above 50mg / l. Nitrate is converted from nitrite and is harmless in a low concentration as a plant nutrient.
Nitrite test (NO2)
High nitrite values are fatal to fish and are mainly the result of degradation processes in the aquarium. Nitrate is created by ammonium and must first be converted into harmless nitrate by the cleaning bacteria in the aquarium.
Chlorine (CL)
Chlorine is a disinfectant that is added to tap water. Chlorine damages the sensitive fins, gills and mucous membranes of the fish and should not be present in the aquarium water if possible. You can remove chlorine with special water purifiers.
Application: Hold a test strip in the aquarium water and briefly swirl it around. Shake off the excess water and lay the test strip horizontally. Wait 60 seconds for the result and compare it to the colour chart on the can.
Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
With the Watertest 6in1 you can quickly measure the most important water parameters and are always up to date to find out why your fish are looking sad.
